A very busy weekend!
The Napier party visit Nelson’s heritage South Street
Wow! Last week we had a party of 17 visit the Nelson region from Napier/Hastings, mostly from a Summerset Village there. They were with us from Wednesday 4 to Tuesday 9 November, during which time Day Out looked after them every day. They did a wide range of experiences, despite the heavy rain, including; afternoon tea at Melrose House, a Best of Nelson tour visiting McGlashens pottery, Hoglund Art Glass, Mapua’s Appleshed for lunch before a wine-tasting at Seifried’s great Cellar Door, a ride with Tasman Sea Shuttles into Abel Tasman national park and a a day over the hill in Golden Bay, visiting a distillery and Waikorupupu Spring, with an excellent lunch at the Wholemeal Cafe in Takaka. We loved looking after them all and, still in the rain, they left on Tuesday to return home.
On Friday 5 November we hosted the Bennet family down from Auckland for a couple of days to visit the NZ Cider Festival, who wanted to do something different. The plan had been for a picnic in Kahurangi National Park at Court House Flats, but unfortunately the heavy rain had closed the road, so instead the day was spent over in Blenheim enjoying an excellent lunch at St Clair Family winery after a wine-tasting at Wither Hills.
On Monday 8 November we looked after two young ladies doing a road trip from Dunedin to Auckland after completing their law degree exams. They asked to do a wine tasting through the Nelson Tasman region and found lots of great wines to taste, taking quite a few bottles with them.
