Wine and beer tasting tours!

The Nelson Tasman region is famous for its award winning aromatic wines, the first commercial vineyard being established in the 1970s. Here, where most of the vineyards and wineries are privately owned, you will find the passion and experimentation that only long-established private ownership can bring to creating great wines. On a wine tasting tour with Day Out you will enjoy some unique and excellent award winning wines. We visit cellar doors carefully chosen for the quality of the experience you enjoy as well as the quality of wine presented, with plenty of time to savour and discuss each wine with the grower.

Tasman is New Zealand’s largest commercial hop producer, growing hops of exceptional quality in perfect conditions, some unique to New Zealand and much sought after overseas by top brewers. The quality of these hops, the climate and the excellent water has attracted gifted and adventurous craft brewers from around the world, ensuring a tremendous variety of excellent brews – too many to taste and savour in one tour! But come on, give it a go! We know some great breweries you will enjoy visiting. We may even visit New Zealand’s oldest pub where the beer is fresh for a tasting! You will also get the chance to do some cider tasting, a rapidly growing industry in the region, enjoying the same passion and dedication as wine and beer production.

Scenic Exploration tours around Nelson Tasman!

The Nelson Tasman region is surrounded by three stunning, scenic and very different National Parks, popular with visitors from around the world for the great variety of flora and fauna, and filled with the sound of river water, tuis, bell birds and more. Views from the well-maintained walkways are stunning, offering great photo opportunities.

We know some excellent picnic spots in the dappled shade of peaceful valleys. Bring your own picnic or we can prepare a luscious picnic that will include local wine. On some tours there are areas of historical interest, such as nineteenth century gold workings where much of the machinery and evidence remains on view to the exploring walker.

Nelson Tasman regional exploration tours

Nelson was the first European settlement on South Island and, as a result, has a long New Zealand history. The weather, quality of light and scenic beauty has for many years attracted some of the best artists and artisans from around the world, producing art and craftwork that is sought after globally. We can only show you the work of a few of the best artisans on any tour, but we try to ensure these are as diverse as possible.

The North of South Island is colloquially known as ‘The Top of the South’, and includes the Nelson Lakes, the Marlborough Sounds as well as the Golden Bay, Nelson Tasman and Blenheim regions, all with greatly differing scenic qualities. The Top of the South tour and the Picnic at French Pass tour aims to show visitors as much as possible of this wonderful, sunny region.
